On October 17, 1914, legendary baseball player and Baltimore native Babe Ruth was married to Mary Ellen Woodford at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Ellicott City. Ruth played minor league baseball in Baltimore but had been sold to the Red Sox in 1914, where he met his future wife.
