The Anti-Saloon League and Prohibition in Howard County
The 18th Amendment was driven by the dramatic increase in alcohol consumption with the availability of hard liquor in the 19th Century. Join Executive Director Dr. Mark Stout to learn about Maryland and Howard County loosely enforced Prohibition laws, as well as the efforts of the Anti-Saloon League to ban alcohol consumption in Howard County and other parts of Maryland, with local efforts led by former First Presbyterian minister Reverend Henry Branch.
